Detailed review of my order

I placed an order for a custom gift set for my sister's birthday, which included San Francisco chocolates, organic loose leaf tea, and a sourdough starter. The ordering process on their website was straightforward and easy to navigate. I appreciated the options for customization. Delivery took about 4 days to reach Sacramento, and everything was packed really well with appropriate cushioning, so nothing shifted or broke. The chocolates were fresh and the tea smelled wonderful. I didn't need to contact support, which is always a good sign. My sister loved the gift, especially the sourdough starter. I think the quality of the products and the care in packaging made it worth it. Prices are a bit higher than a regular grocery store, but you're paying for local and gourmet items.

Loved the local honey

So, I snagged some local honey from Roots San Francisco the other day. It was super yummy, really unique flavor. Came pretty quick too, like 3 days to my place. The whole experience was smooth, no fuss. Definitely happy with it, felt like I got a little piece of SF delivered to my door.

Good deal on coffee beans

I was looking for some craft coffee beans and Roots San Francisco had a good sale. Got 15% off my order, which made the price much better. Shipping was free too since I spent over $50. Felt like I got good value for my money, which is what I always look for.

Best organic granola ever

Oh my goodness, I just had to share about the organic granola I got from Roots San Francisco! It was absolutely incredible. Crunchy, not too sweet, and packed with flavor. I also picked up some specialty crackers that were perfect. Everything arrived so quickly and was packaged perfectly. I'm already planning my next order, probably for some of their craft beer and more of that granola. Seriously, you have to try it!

Nice products, slow delivery

I ordered some artisanal cookies and a jar of homemade jam. The products themselves were really good quality, exactly what I expected. Packaging was secure, nothing was broken. But, it took about 6 days for the order to reach me in Oakland, which felt a bit long. Customer service was responsive when I asked about the tracking, so that was a plus. Overall, a decent experience, just wish delivery was a little quicker.

Hey, I'm thinking about ordering some of their jams and maybe a gift box for my sister. Does anyone know if they deliver to the East Bay, specifically Oakland?

J Julia G. 1 day ago
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they do local delivery. I got some stuff shipped to Berkeley last month, so Oakland should be fine.

They do local delivery, but sometimes there's a minimum order or a fee depending on how far out you are. Check their site, it usually says.

anyone know if these coupon codes actually work? I saw a '15% off first order' pop-up but I'm always skeptical.

N Nancy Gomez 2 weeks ago
Yep, used one last month for my first purchase, worked fine. Just apply it at checkout.

Yeah, they usually work. Just double-check the terms cause sometimes they exclude specific items or bundles. But generally, the percentage off ones are good.

How's the sourdough starter from Roots? I've been wanting to get into baking and saw they offer it.

I Ian 2 days ago
It's decent! I bought some a few months back and it's still alive and kicking. Made some pretty good loaves with it.

I heard good things about their starter. Haven't tried it myself but a friend swears by it for a really active culture.

What's their return policy like? Bought some hot sauce that's way too spicy for me, haha. Can I bring it back?

S shiva shankar 6 days ago
Returns were easy for me last time, I had an issue with a damaged item and they sorted it out quickly. Not sure about personal taste though.

I think for food items, especially if it's just 'not liking it', returns might be tricky. Best to check their site or just call them up.

Are their prices super competitive with, say, Bi-Rite Market? Trying to decide where to get some artisanal cheese for a party.

S Sam J. 3 weeks ago
Hmm, I think Roots SF is pretty comparable on quality, maybe slightly better on unique local stuff. Bi-Rite can be good for standard gourmet, but Roots has some real gems.

Honestly, for cheese, I'd say Roots has a more curated selection. Prices are probably similar, but you might find something more unique at Roots.
